Sicily Sizzles
A short ferry ride across the Strait of Messina from the heel of Italy and you enter a remarkable world of spicy food and rich cultural heritage. A mountainous island with memorable interior landscapes that descend into ancient villages that line the shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea.
We would crisscross the island and explore the tantalizing variety of landscapes and delicious cuisine.
We were continuing our Southern Italy adventure found in an earlier chapter of this blog. Already the cultural differences become noticeable. Sicily is an island and not far from the Orient whose influence is noticeable in some of the architecture and certainly in the food.
